After treatment for breast cancer at the Breast
Center at Methodist Dallas, sisters Linda
Gage (center) and Elaine Gatlin (far left) have
encouraged their mother and two other sisters
to be proactive about their breast health.
These awards and initiatives from 2013 represent Methodist Dallas
Medical Center's and Methodist Health System's commitment to
winning the fight against breast cancer:
New multidisciplinary Breast Center.
Launched this year, the
Breast Center at Methodist Dallas takes a unique approach to
treating breast cancer. Not only is each woman’s treatment
tailored specifically to her medical and personal needs, but her
customized plan is coordinated by a whole team of physicians
from a variety of cancer disciplines before treatment ever
begins. A nurse navigator is the face of the treatment program,
walking beside each woman along her cancer journey.
Radiation excellence.
Texas Oncology – Methodist Cancer
Center was recognized for its breast cancer care, being named
a Center of Excellence in accelerated partial breast irradiation by
Cianna Medical.
Mobile mammography.
In partnership with Susan G. Komen
®
Dallas County, Methodist Health System's mobile mammography
unit brought breast cancer screening directly to 3,631 women
this year, including 2,113 in the Methodist Dallas service area.
And to continue this service, Komen extended its largest gift to
Methodist Health System Foundation to date, totaling $461,792.
Monday Night Mammos.
The hospital's Monday Night Mammos
events continued in 2013, offering after-hours mammograms in a
spa-like atmosphere.
