Alive and blessed
Ariel awoke on July 6
with a new liver and has
since done extremely
well, Dr. Mantry says.
While The Liver Institute
now conveniently has a
satellite office in Lubbock,
Ariel likes returning to
Methodist Dallas to see
her care team.
“I loved everybody —
the nurses, the doctors, my
transplant coordinator,”
she says. “Even after I
went home, they were
always there, just a
phone call away.”
In the weeks following
her transplant, Ariel
realized the freedom a
new liver had given her.
Independence Day has a
whole new meaning.
“I’ve learned to never take
anything for granted,” Ariel
says. “I’m alive. I’m blessed.”
