“The facility is beautiful and comfortable. The level of caring attention I received from the doctors
and the staff was amazing. The technology is incredible, too. I’m in a wheelchair, but was able to
easily get a mammogram and a bone density scan. It was much easier than what I anticipated.”

touch
New imaging center caters to women’s needs
One
of the notable features of the recently opened
Methodist Richardson Medical Center is the imaging
facility at the Center for Women’s Health, where
women can access a range of breast imaging services
and bone density assessment.
“One distinguishing aspect of this facility is that
we’re staffed with three radiologists in addition to
our technology personnel,” says Tom Johnson, MD,
imaging center medical director. “The on-site presence of
these physicians means that patients can get faster results
and immediate answers to questions in many instances.”
Feel comfortable and relaxed
Noteworthy is the imaging center’s ultramodern
design, which was created with special attention to
patient comfort and privacy.
“Patients can enter very close to the parking lot,
and we also offer a free valet service,” Dr. Johnson
says. “Our registration area is enclosed, and the
dressing room and patient care suites allow
for more privacy. Plus, our technologists are
trained to maximize patient comfort during
mammogram procedures.”
Those attributes are important, Dr. Johnson
says, because they all add up to an inviting atmosphere
that eases the stress many patients associate with
imaging procedures.
“We want our patients to feel as relaxed as possible
so that they’re motivated to keep up with their
appointments,” Dr. Johnson says. “When it comes to
breast cancer, early detection means vastly increased
chances of long-term survival.”
Find the services you need
In addition to screening and diagnostic mammograms,
the imaging center offers:
w
w
Bone density analysis for the detection of osteopenia
and osteoporosis
w
w
High-resolution breast MRI
w
w
Image-guided needle biopsies for early diagnosis of
suspicious findings
w
w
Free enrollment in the Mammo Advantage and
High-Risk Breast Surveillance Clinic programs,
which assess and monitor risk for cancer.
“We’re also committed to working together as a
team for the benefit of our patients’ well-being,” says
Dr. Johnson. “If a patient is diagnosed with cancer,
there is continuity of care that helps patients from
diagnosis through treatment and beyond. We’ve been
following some patients for as many as 20 years.”
